Lower Back Pain From Motor Vehicle Accident

“After using HealthQb, I am more mindful at work and have a better understanding of the behaviours I need to take to reduce the chances that I’ll experience a flare-up.”

The Client

I’m a 31 year-old man with a full-time corporate job. Two years ago, I was in a multi vehicle car accident (MVA) and have had low back pain since.

The Challenge

My low back pain makes it very difficult to sit for too long or to stand for too long. This impedes my work, chores, and leisure time, as most of my leisure activities are spent either sitting or on my feet.

Before HealthQb

The treatments I’ve tried in consultation with my GP included kinesiology training, chiropractic, massage therapy, intramuscular stimulation (IMS). Even after all these treatments, I wasn’t able to sit or stand/walk for longer than 30 minutes at a time and only had limited ability to bend my lower back. Typically, I was sleeping only 6-7 hours a night.

Results

After working with HealthQb for about 6 months now, I can sit and stand/walk for almost 1 hour, and consistently sleep for 8-10 hours. I recognize my pain quality and “flare ups” earlier now, and handle them differently. I’m more mindful at work so not to aggravate my back by sitting for too long.

HealthQb is keeping me accountable to the health behaviours that are improving my recovery back to full health. I have much better sleep habits and I am better able to listen to, and cope with, emotions related to the accident, instead of sweeping them under the rug. My daily nervous system scores are reflective of how my body is recovering, and I adjust my nightly routines based on the score.
